About Us
The Fungal Research Group Foundation, Inc. (FRG-F) serves as the principle organizer of the
International Scientific Conferences on Bioaerosols, Fungi, Bacteria, and Mycotoxins in Indoor and Outdoor Environments
In 1994, we held our first professional meeting in Saratoga Springs, NY. Since then, we met in 1996, 1998, 2000 in Helsinki, Finland (together with Healthy Buildings 2000), 2003 and most recently, we returned to Saratoga Springs, New York in 2011. This series of conferences brings together a wide range of leading international researchers and health experts devoted to research and education in public health and prevention. Furthermore, the FRG-F produces and publishes key presentations and research for experts and the public interest. We document the scientific meetings in order to advance the science and knowledge of indoor hygiene and safety at the work place. We promote interdisciplinary research and team work by scientists and practitioners, commercial firms and health and safety advocates, employers, unions, and building owners. Over the years, we have worked to recognize indoor mold and bacteria caused by flooding, water damage or building dampness as a public and occupational health issue that needs to be addressed with special care and attention. We have published several books with peer-reviewed research papers and policy statements that are available for purchase and review (see below).
The FRG-F collaborates with governmental agencies such as the U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY (EPA), New York State Department of Health and New York City department of health and other educational institutions or professional organizations (i.e., the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York, N.Y.), the Albany Medical Center (Albany, New York), American Industrial Hygiene Association, International Commission Occupational Health (Organic Dust Work-group), Mycotoxin Research Association (Germany), the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the University of Natal (South Africa) - Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health) and others.
The FRG-F supports networking of professionals, physicians, industrial hygienists, building engineers, educators and public health specialists to advance research, practical solutions and prevention.
